Some people are more prone to textures more than others. Texture might be one of the hardest things to convey on a flat type of media but Photoshop helps to make it easier for people who don't have it so easy.
My teacher has called me “The Texture Queen” or variants of the title in this past month or so. I’m humble to say that I kind of am. If I’m not obnoxiously tooting my own horn here, I figured that’s my thing. Something I do well. And to be fairly new to Photoshop and have this come naturally is a great blessing. I’ve been creating my own textures for any project I’ve done by layer multiple pictures with some type of pattern and using screen or overlay to kind of merge them together. This takes a keen eye to what you want your outcome to feel like. And it would usually take most of my time to figure that out more than any other aspect of a project.
Yesterday, my teacher taught me some of the filters in Photoshop. These filters have preset texture ideas like mosaic, pixelation, and so much more. I never really touched any of those tools but might begin playing around with them so I can get used to it. I feel that knowing this is going to broaden my second nature.
Maybe I will become a “Texture Master.”
